EVEN GREATERand it's only just the beginning

LOVE GOD. LOVE PEOPLE. SERVE ALL.

Church of the King started as a dream in the hearts of Todd and Lisa Schumacher to plant a life-giving church in the Lake Charles area. That dream quickly began to take shape when a recently old abandoned theater- turned-church became available in the heart of the city.

More than 100 people attended that first service in the fall of 2006. And the dream of Church of the King became a reality.

Since that first Sunday, the church has grown and changed quite a bit; from 100 to hundreds of people who walk through these doors each week. But, what hasn’t changed is our purpose - to Love God, Love People and Serve All. The message of hope in Jesus, shared in a life-giving environment has drawn people from all walks of life into the Church of the King family.

In 2015

In 2016

We saw over 12% growth in our weekend services. Children ages 0-11 make up 23% of our church. We gave away over $140,000 to local and international missions. Over 2,200 people watched our services online.  We served over 2,000 people at our weekly fresh produce outreach.

The Need

Our community

is on the move and every part of the Greater Lake Area is expanding and growing! Over the next 10 years, our population is expected to almost double with people coming from all over the world. We need to make a place for them in our community and our church.

It was a little over a year ago that we opened our new auditorium and since then we’ve grown and have continued to grow. It’s been awesome and a little crazy. We not only have to make a place for people who aren’t here yet; we also have to make more space for those of us who are here now! So, what do we do?

Beginning in the spring of 2017, we will start expanding the foyer and remodeling our entire children’s space. We also know that God has called us to reach our entire region - so we are planning and looking for a place to launch the first of many Church of the King campuses.

Why Are We Doing This

Why are we doing this? The simple answer is PEOPLE

Eternity is real and people will spend it in one of two places - with God or without Him. One of the major reasons we exist as a church is to lead people in a growing relationship with our Heavenly Father.

From Pastor Todd

Lisa and I, along with our entire team, are in awe of all that God is doing in our Church of the King family. It was nearly 10 years ago that we knew that God had called us to plant a life-giving church in Lake Charles. And what God has done from that first service in 2006 up through today is humbling, amazing and exciting.

From the beginning we knew we were called to be a church for the lost, the lonely and the left out. We knew that Church of the King was to be a place where the wounded and broken could encounter a loving God and receive true healing and hope. We also knew that we weren’t just called to reach Lake Charles but the entire area with the life-giving message of grace that can only come from Jesus.

The last nine years have been amazing and we know that this is just the start of what God is doing through our church. We hope that you’ll join with us on this journey as we believe for even greater things.
